FIRESAFE COUNCIL'S NOTIFICATION TO HOMEOWNERS
In an effort to avoid the extent of devastation that past fire seasons have brought to
Calaveras County, fuel breaks will be established through the County. The next planned
location is the Bar XX subdivision.
Under a grant funded by Cal-Fire (California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection)
the Calaveras Foothills Fire Safe Council will be utilizing Private Contract Crews to remove
vegetation along road right-of-ways in the Appaloosa Roads CSD and the Bar XX
Subdivision.
The crew will remove all growth smaller than 8 inches in diameter at chest height.
Branches will be trimmed off larger trees up to a height of 10 to 15 feet, but no more than
one-third of the tree height. All slash and debris will be chipped and spread along
acceptable areas in the right-of-way. Please note that all work will take place in the road
right-of-way (approximately 25’ on either side of the road); the crew will not be removing
any vegetation from private property. Delays will be minimal, however, please exercise
caution.
With advance notice, specific plants can be tagged and excluded from cutting. If you want
to let us know about these, or have any questions or concerns, please contact Project
Coordinator Bill Fullerton at info@calaverasfiresafecouncil.org.
This is a coalition of organizations that share a common interest in preventing wildfires and
reducing the damage they cause. This work will also increase the safety of necessary
evacuation routes.
Together we can create a safer community for everyone.
